I live in Pennsylvania now.

Road trip successful (big thanks to the friends with whom I stayed), wedding trip successful (though many of my non-wedding activities were sad), and now I'm back in Swarthmore. George gets his first US vet visit tomorrow. Hopefully I'll buy a bed soon. I have Jay Z/Pearl Jam Made in America Festival tickets for this weekend, but I'm trying to offload them because I'm busy and worn out. Most importantly, are there any Wasatch 100 vets out there? Do I need to be concerned about navigation at all, having run basically none of the course before race day? (i.e., should I carry maps and the detailed course description, or is it pretty straightforward?) It seems pretty clear from the description. Also, what sort of food is available at aid stations?

Updates

I am now (once the paperwork goes through, really) the proud owner of a 1995 Toyota 4Runner. I'll be leaving tomorrow and stopping in Reno, SLC, Denver, Kansas City, Lexington, maybe DC, and then Philly. Then I'm flying back here for a wedding, then I'm in Philly for the next two years. I miss California, the Berkeley hills, and all my friends in the state already. A good article was written about Michael Popov for Outside Online.

Back in the US

I've returned to the US. Getting George here was stressful in Kenya, but easy in the end. The handler I hired tried to do everything via freight, which would have been $1800, but I figured out I could do it by checked baggage, which was super easy and only cost $400. In the US, customs was more interested in whether I was smuggling in food for George than whether he had rabies or crazy tropical infectious diseases. We already went for a 13-mile run in the Berkeley hills. I'm sure George missed all the streams he used to be able to cool off in in Kenya, but I think he had fun. I'll be very busy for the next several weeks going back and forth between the Bay Area and Philadelphia, as well as running the Wasatch 100. I'm still looking for an additional pacer for the race. I'm also in the market for a used Toyota truck so I can move my stuff to Philly. Lastly, more people I know have passed away in pursuit of adventure. I don't know what the hell is going on. Fi

My first motorcycle, almost certainly not my last. I'll miss it. I will not miss the uninformative road signs.

I mean, the tourney was a blast, but pink is not my color.

I'm just taking photos of stuff so I can throw it away.
